Jacobs—Landfill Engineer

    Support our waste management clients in Oregon and across the U.S. and have a hand in transforming solid waste practices throughout the region. As a Planner or Economist in our Integrated Waste Solutions group, you will have the chance to deliver solid waste management projects that include providing solid waste master plans, waste diversion plans, corporate waste strategies, organic waste diversion and processing strategies, rate studies, procurement assistance, and cost of services analysis while working with waste management clients in Oregon and throughout the western US regional market. During your time with us, you will also have the opportunity use your knowledge of the solid waste management stream to apply the right tools and systems to organize and successfully deliver projects.     General duties and responsibilities include leading and performing the engineering design of solid waste projects, consistent with project delivery and design processes, and interface with the client on work progress and technical aspects of the project.

    This position will be located in Sacramento, CA and must be able to travel to project sites as needed.


    • BS degree in an engineering discipline, preferably civil, geotechnical or environmental 
    • Minimum of 10 years of experience, including 7 years in the waste management industry 
    • Professional Engineer (PE) license in California 
    • Some project management experience, including capability to manage tasks or small to average projects  
    • Experience with landfills, leachate management, landfill gas collection and utilization, stormwater, and related technologies  

    In addition to the minimum qualifications, the preferred candidate will also have:

    • MS degree in an engineering or relevant discipline 
    • 10-15 years of experience in the waste management industry
