Jacobs—Waste Transfer / Processing Facility Project Manager

    Support our waste management clients in Oregon and across the U.S. and have a hand in transforming solid waste practices throughout the region. As a Planner or Economist in our Integrated Waste Solutions group, you will have the chance to deliver solid waste management projects that include providing solid waste master plans, waste diversion plans, corporate waste strategies, organic waste diversion and processing strategies, rate studies, procurement assistance, and cost of services analysis while working with waste management clients in Oregon and throughout the western US regional market.     General duties and responsibilities include:

    • Acts as the company’s prime contact with the client and is responsible for overall work progress and technical performance on the project. 
    • Leads and manages the project team through all phases of project planning, execution, and closeout, consistent with established project delivery processes to meet the scope, schedule, budget as stated in the contract. 
    • Completes the scope of work to the satisfaction of the client, while simultaneously ensuring that Jacobs’s Health, Safety, and Environment, quality, financial, risk management, business and policy expectations are met. 
    • Works closely with project delivery leadership and other senior project manager/operations leaders who provide support and mentoring. 
    • Support business development activities related to transfer stations, material recovery facilities, and waste processing facilities across the U.S., leading to the award of waste management contracts. This would include client relationship development, project-specific positioning activities, proposal preparation, and oral presentations consistent with established business development processes.


    • BS degree in an engineering or architecture discipline, preferably mechanical, structural, civil or environmental engineering or industrial architecture 
    • Minimum of 15 years of experience, including 10 years in the waste management industry 
    • Professional Engineer (PE) license or Licensed Architect, as applicable 
    • Project management experience, preferably including management of projects of average to difficult complexity 
    • Experience in account management, and in positioning for, preparing proposals, and winning solid waste projects 
    • Experience leading the design of transfer stations, composting, waste processing, and material recovery facilities 

    In addition to the minimum qualifications, the preferred candidate will also have:

    • MS degree in an engineering, architecture or relevant discipline 
    • 15-20 years of experience in the waste management industry
