About SWANA Beaver Chapter

Our Beaver Chapter provides opportunities for operator certification training courses, sharing of technical expertise, continuing education units, and legislative/regulatory updates.  If you have questions, comments on our website content, or need a membership application, please Contact Us.

Winter Regulatory Forum & Annual Business Meeting

Typically held in January, the Forum and Annual Business Meeting is held at various locations around Oregon. This is another opportunity for continuing education and networking with fellow industry members regarding regulatory issues facing our industry. The membership is also brought up to speed on Chapter and International SWANA activities.

Quarterly General Membership Meetings and Tours

Approximately every three months (unless other events are occurring in the quarter) a tour and general membership meeting is organized to bring our membership together and view the latest trends in solid waste management. Members get to see, hear and ask questions of operations officers conducting cutting edge technology.

    Newsletter & Chapter Website

SWANA Beaver Chapter publishes an electronic newsletter semi-annually. The newsletter covers upcoming conferences, activities and events, documents past tour activities, and provides legislative information applicable to Oregon. The Chapter website contains updates on upcoming events in Oregon and is linked to SWANA International giving our members another resource for current industry information.

    Monthly Board Meetings

Typically the second Thursday of each month, held at various locations. Board members, general members and guests discuss and plan activities, events and general business for the chapter.  Please see our calendar for upcoming board meeting information.

The Chapter offers a local scholarship, the Ben Masengil SCHOLARSHIP AWARD PROGRAM for graduating high school seniors, undergraduate or graduate students. In an effort to promote education and professional development and to provide a benefit to its membership, the Beaver Chapter of the Solid Waste Association of North America has established the Ben Masengil Scholarship Award Program. Typically two $1,000 scholarships are given: one to a new college student, and one to a returning student.  SWANA members and children of SWANA members are eligible. Applications are due to the Chapter Scholarship Committee by May 1st of each year. Click here for details, application and winners

    Northwest Regional Symposium
